Washington, D.C. – On February 28, 2012, the Onondaga Nation announced the appeal of the 2010 dismissal of the Land Rights Action to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Onondaga and other Haudenosaunee leaders traveled to Washington D.C. to remind the United States government and people of their treaty obligations, which have yet to find justice in the U.S. courts. They carried with them the wampum belt U.S. President George Washington commissioned for the Haudenosaunee to commemorate the 1794 Treaty of Canandaigua.
