The Onondaga Nation continues to work to protect our children and to try to assist in their healing from the abuse that they suffered from their former teacher, Albert Scerbo. This latest court ruling is a disappointment because it over turned the jury verdict that convicted this sexual abuser. It was not the fault of the children that errors were made by the judge or in the jury deliberation process, and yet, it is the children who are likely to suffer more as this ordeal drags on.
We hope for a speedy and fair resolution to this case that will see justice served, and allow our children to leave this chapter of their lives behind them. The Onondaga Nation will continue to work for that justice and for their healing.
