The Onondaga Nation has begun construction of new softball fields for the community. The Nation has hired Marcy Excavation Services LLC for the project. Marcy has created many local fields of the highest quality and came highly recommended for their work.
“There is a great amount of softball talent on the Nation,” said Tadodaho Sid Hill. “The council felt that it was time to install softball fields that reflect the high quality of play of our female athletes.”
Marcy Excavation will be installing two adult regulation softball fields, one of which will be lighted for evening play and have a home run fence. There is also a youth field to aide in the development of our young players made of the same material.
Leo, project manager from Marcy Excavation said of the project, “These fields a going to be great to play on. The fields have a great drainage system which will help keep the field playable.” Leo added about the beautiful infield, “The infield is the highest quality. It is a special mix of brick, sand, and clay from Canada that people will enjoy playing on. Plus with the homerun fence 280 feet away, players are going to have a great time playing here.”
Currently there is one adult field and one youth field under construction. These fields are located adjacent to the current ball field. In August, the Nation plans to have Marcy Excavation return to begin work on the existing field. When completed, the Nation will have two high quality softball fields.
“We wanted to provide an opportunity for our softball teams to have the kind of field which will bring out the best of their abilities,” added Tadodaho. “With these fields it will be great for our community to host multiple games and even host tournaments. We can see these fields being beneficial to the community for a long time.”
Now we all we have to do is to wait ‘til the grass grows green and play ball.
