Syracuse, N.Y. — Onondaga County, which reneged on its 2011 promise to give the Onondaga Nation a piece of land along Onondaga Lake, agreed today to find a different, better lakeside parcel for the nation.
The county Legislature voted to set up a committee that will study the best spot for a nation presence on the lake. The 2011 resolution had promised to give the nation Murphy’s Island, a highly polluted, 36-acre parcel behind Destiny USA that the county owns.
