NEAR CANNON BALL, N.D. – Central New Yorkers supporting protesters at a North Dakota oil pipeline have witnessed clashes as authorities move in.
Gunny Richmond has been among them. Richmond, an Onondaga Nation citizen from the St. Regis Mohawk Reservation, drove a van of supplies to the protesters in September. She expected to stay four days. But after unloading clothes and food, she decided to stay and has camped at the Standing Rock protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline ever since.
