ONONDAGA NATION, N.Y. — Onondaga Nation leaders and community members hosted the Onondaga Nation School graduation Thursday night.
The graduation, which is typically organized by school leaders and held in the school’s gymnasium, was moved to the nation’s arena amid a debate between the nation and the LaFayette school district.
Onondaga Nation parents removed their children from the nation school on June 21 in protest due to a debate over who will be the school’s next principal. Since the walkout, a majority of students have not returned to the school.
