Hoyane Vincent E. Johnson, 84, of the Onondaga Nation Eel Clan, died July 13, 2024.
Vincent “Vince” Johnson was one of the fourteen Hoyane of the Onondaga Nation Council of Chiefs. He was always a staunch advocate for Onondaga and Haudenosaunee sovereignty for the future generations of Onondaga people. As a traditionalist of the longhouse ways, Vince promoted returning to our original ways of being food soverign and contributed to this initiative by being the caretaker of the Onondaga Nation’s buffalo herd for decades. Vince’s calm demenor, leadership, and story telling will be missed by all.
Friends may call at the family home 1 Buffalo Hill Rd, LaFayette, Monday, July 15, 2024. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 10am at the family home and 11am at the Onondaga Nation Longhouse.
