The Onondaga Health Outreach team held an Elder’s Luncheon at the Tsha’ Thoñswatha’ (Onondaga Nation Fire Hall) on Tuesday, April 15th, highlighting COVID-19 education and awareness for Onondaga Nation elders.
The event began with a menu catered by Tina Thomas, including healthy and traditional foods like corn soup, squash, mush, and strawberry drink, for Elders to make a plate and visit each other. After everyone settled in, The Onondaga Health Outreach team gave a presentation that featured ways to stay informed about what COVID-19 is and how to keep themselves and others safe from the virus. There was also a table with pamphlets, hand sanitizer, notepads, sticky notes, pens, and stickers for those attending the luncheon to take home with them.
Nyaweñha to the Elders who attended the event, it was great to answer your questions and learn more about how we can create change for healthcare within the community.
Best,
Onondaga Health Outreach Team
